Job Description

Traveling Superintendent - Ground-up Commercial Construction 

Salary: $100,000 – $115,000
Project sizes - $750k to $5mill 
Mostly deal with grocery stores, auto parts stores, car washes, storage complexes etc.

Position Summary

The Traveling Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all on-site construction activities, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role serves as the primary on-site leader, coordinating subcontractors, managing schedules, and ensuring compliance with all plans, specifications, and regulatory requirements.

The Superintendent plays a critical role in driving project success through daily site management, proactive communication, and strong attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

Project & Site Management

• Serve as the lead on-site representative, managing all day-to-day construction activities.
• Ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards.
• Review plans and specifications to ensure all work is compliant.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized job site.
• Ensure the site is opened at the start of each workday and secured at the end of the day.

Scheduling & Coordination

• Schedule and coordinate subcontractors, material deliveries, and vendor activities.
• Issue and maintain weekly look-ahead schedules.
• Coordinate with suppliers and owner vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
• Maintain consistent communication with all subcontractors and stakeholders.

Inspections & Compliance

• Coordinate and attend all required inspections with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), including building departments, fire marshal, and health officials.
• Manage all interim and final inspections, including Temporary Certificate of Occupancy (TCO) and Certificate of Occupancy (CO) requirements.
• Ensure all work meets applicable codes, regulations, and project specifications.

Project Closeout

• Identify, track, and resolve punch list items and construction issues.
• Ensure all final project requirements are completed for successful closeout.

Work Schedule & Expectations

• Required on-site supervision: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
• Expected to be first on-site and last to leave , ensuring proper supervision at all times
• Subcontractors may not work on-site without supervision
• Flexibility required for extended hours and weekend work as needed, based on project demands
