TLC Nursing Associates, Inc. is seeking an experienced Surgical Tech – First Assist for travel assignments in hospitals and surgical centers. The First Assist will work closely with surgeons and the perioperative team to ensure efficient, safe, and sterile surgical procedures.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct assistance to surgeons during procedures.
- Perform preoperative preparation of instruments, equipment, and surgical sites.
- Maintain sterile technique and ensure compliance with infection control standards.
- Handle tissue retraction, wound exposure, and hemostasis as directed by the surgeon.
- Apply sutures, staples, and wound dressings as necessary.
- Assist with patient positioning, draping, and transporting .
- Monitor surgical instruments and supplies , ensuring proper counts before and after procedures.
- Collaborate with anesthesia and nursing teams for optimal patient outcomes.
Qualifications
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program .
- Certification:
- Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) or Certified Surgical Technologist (CST/FA) required.
- Experience:
- 2+ years of surgical assisting experience in an operating room setting.
- Experience in general, orthopedic, cardiovascular, or trauma surgery is a plus.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in surgical instrumentation, sterile techniques, and first assist duties .
- Strong attention to detail, teamwork, and communication skills .
- Travel Readiness: Open to temporary travel assignments .
